Ultimate Boxxer is kicking off today. The new boxing entertainment brand intends to help recognise and provide fresh opportunities to fighters in each weight division who are looking to advance their careers.

With Ultimate Boxxer, fighters will compete in a fresh, fast-paced format that’s been sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control. It will feature single elimination tournament events with eight boxers who compete for big cash prizes on one night.

The format is a unique concept for professional boxing. Each event will have an initial eight fighters, who compete in four quarter-finals of 3 x 3-minute rounds followed by two semi-finals and one final, with the winner becoming the tournament champion for their weight class.

The first ever event, Ultimate Boxxer I, will be held on Friday 27 April at Manchester Arena, where boxing fans can see eight undefeated Welterweight fighters from around the UK clash.

Named as ambassadors and non-directors for Ultimate Boxxer are Ricky Hatton, Paulie Malignaggi, Anthony Crolla and BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Charlie Sloth.

“There is a huge amount of talented British fighters who do not get, or cannot get, the mainstream exposure they deserve,” said Hatton, former three-time Light Welterweight and Welterweight Champion of the World. “In boxing you have to wait for a lucky break and Ultimate Boxxer will give them the opportunity for exposure and to show everyone what they are about.”

Former Two-Weight World Champion Malignaggi added, “Ultimate Boxxer will provide a golden opportunity for unbeaten fighters to test themselves on the big stage regardless of background, trainer or promotional contract. We see this as the future of boxing promotion, and the solution of how we take the sport of boxing to the British public interest. With credible, competitive bouts each fight and a truly modern age experience to build stronger connections with fans in venue and at home.”

Tickets will be available through an exclusive Ticketmaster presale from 9:00 on Tuesday 26 February 2018. Head to Ticketmaster.co.uk for more.
