An American In Paris announces final London show
It's your last chance to grab tickets to the smash hit musical in the West End.
Opening earlier this year, An American In Paris has celebrated critical acclaim across the board. The tale of troubled love, romance and dance in the aftermath of war, the musical now enters its final 14 weeks at London’s Dominion Theatre. The last performance will take place on Saturday 6 January 2018 at the West End theatre.
Fans will be able to watch the London production of An American In Paris in cinemas in the future, featuring the original cast led by Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope.
Written by Craig Lucas, the play features music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, featuring songs I Got Rhythm, ‘S Wonderful, I’ll Build a Stairway To Paradise, and They Can’t Take That Away From me.
The musical premiered in 2014 at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, before moving to the Palace Theatre on Broadway. There is received 12 Tony Nominations, winning for Best Choreography, Best Orchestration, Best Set Design and Best Lighting Design.
The story, directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, follows Jerry Mulligan, an American GI, hoping to make it in the city of love as a painter. Here he meets a young dancer named Lise, launching into a modern romance set in the aftermath of war.
The West End cast is led by Ashley Day and Leanne Cope as Jerry Mulligan and Lise Dassin respectively.
The Gershwins provide music and lyrics, based on a new book by Craig Lewis.
