Willy Russell’s iconic musical Blood Brothers returns to Blackpool in April.

The musical will run for one week only from Tuesday 23 to Saturday 27 April 2019 at The Opera House.

Blood Brothers tells the moving story of twins Mickey and Eddie. Separated at birth, both brothers grow up on opposite ends of the tracks, one being raised by a wealthy family and one being raised by a poor one. The twins later reunite with fateful consequences.

In this upcoming production, the role of Mickey will be portrayed by Sean Jones, with Mark Hutchinson taking on the role of Eddie.

The seminal role of Mrs Johnson in the production will be portrayed by Olivier Award-nominated actress Linzi Hateley. The actress has appeared in multiple West End productions including Mamma Mia, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Les Misérables, Chicago, Greece and Mary Poppins.

“It’s a show people know and love and I’ve seen it a few times myself, and it’s one of those parts where you hope at some point you might fit the bill,” says Linzi of her role in Blood Brothers. “It’s been a secret dream to get the opportunity to play her (Mrs Johnson) and now I am.”

Blood Brothers first debuted in Liverpool in 1983 before transferring to the West End.

The multi award-winning Bill Kenwright production of the musical recently surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals to achieve the milestone.

Blood Brothers has been affectionately christened the standing ovation musical. The score includes the tracks Brand New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotional Tell Me It’s Not True.

Blood Brothers is showing for one week only at The Opera House, Blackpool from Tuesday 23 to Saturday 27 April 2019.
