This year marks the 140th anniversary since the opening of the iconic Winter Gardens Blackpool venue. To celebrate this milestone, a free exhibition is set to open on Monday 9 July 2018 for a rare view into the archives.

Fans will be able to visit the exhibition until Sunday 29 July 2018 and is open daily between 11:00 and 15:00.

This is a chance to celebrate the venue’s vast and rich history in entertainment, featuring posters, programmes and artefacts from past events. There will also be photographs of the historic building so visitors can compare to the present day.

Winter Gardens Blackpool

Winter Gardens Blackpool was officially opened to the public on 11 July 1878 during a huge ceremony, attended by the Lord Mayor of London as well as the Mayors and Mayoresses from other towns across the country.

Since its opening, the venue has seen a huge selection of performances – from musical to ballroom, plays to music concerts, there has been an event for everyone.

The venue has also seen some big name entertainment grace the stage, such as the likes of Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland to more recently, One Direction, Little Mix and Peter Kay.

The exhibition is open daily from 11:00 until 15:00 from Monday 9 – Sunday 29 July 2018, free of charge. Tickets for forthcoming shows at Winter Gardens Blackpool such as Titantic The Musical, The League of Gentlemen, Joanna Lumley and more are available now through Ticketmaster.co.uk
