Cirque Du Soleil has returned to London’s Royal Albert Hall, bringing Totem – a tale of evolution from the first man to space travel – to the iconic stage.

Premiering on Wednesday 16 January 2019, the event welcomed a plethora of celebrities including The Duke and Duchess Of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. All witnessed a vibrant spectacle of jaw-dropping superhuman feats, from the high flying to the simply astounding.

Opening with a high bar extravaganza, delivered to expert timing, the show twists and weaves through classic circus apparatus to the truly innovative. The classics are however reimagined with brilliant creativity, from the unfolding love story on the trapeze to the genuine hilarity of the circus clowns.

Totem takes it up a notch with its impressive stage design, spine-tingling live band and vocal performers, the unique performances. The skill is undeniable, not least from the unicycle riding troupe who throw and catch silver bowls with an expert ease.

By the time the show reaches its spaceman routine, an awesome feat of timing, precision and power, Cirque’s athletes have been thrown, twisted, spun and contorted – quite literally folded in half. As ever, Cirque Du Soleil: Totem offers an otherworldly insight into the possibilities of the human body, and one that is destined to leave audiences enthralled, excited and enchanted.

Above, athlete Jonathan Buese discusses the show, his journey from gymnast to Cirque Du Soleil performer, and his excitement about performing on the iconic London stage at the Royal Albert Hall.

Cirque Du Soleil: Totem continues at London’s Royal Albert Hall until Tuesday 26 February 2019.
