“This thrilling revival directed by Benedict Andrews burns bright enough to scorch,” praises The New York Times.

And this is just the beginning! Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Tennessee Williams’ best known work, which won a Pulitzer Prize in 1955, has opened to a slew of accolades at the Apollo Theatre.

Radically re-imagined by Andrews, following his smash hit production of A Streetcar Named Desire, the dramatic masterpiece has been captivating audiences in the West End.

It tells the story of a steamy night in Mississippi that finds a wealthy Southern family in crisis. They gather at their Mississippi cotton plantation to celebrate patriarch Big Daddy’s birthday. The heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. A young couple, Brick and Maggie (played by Jack O’Connell and Sienna Miller, pictured above), dance around the secrets and sexual tension that threaten to destroy their marriage while other tragic secrets about the family members are gradually revealed.

In addition to O’Connell and Miller, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof also stars Colm Meaney, Brian Gleeson, Richard Hansell, Lisa Palfrey, Michael J Shannon and Hayley Squires. All of the actors, along with almost every other element of the production, are gathering praise.

Here’s just a sample of what the critics are saying about Cat on a Hot Tin Roof:

“A bold re-imagining… innovative and powerfully acted with Sienna Miller and Jack O’Connell on powerful and moving form” ★★★★– The Sunday Times

“A brilliant, lacerating account of the play… unforgettable” ★★★★ – The Independent

“Miller and O’Connell get to a raw and naked truth.” ★★★★ – The Metro

“Sienna Miller gets right to the heart of Maggie. Jack O’Connell impressively weaves between withdrawal and outbursts of violence” ★★★★ –The Financial Times

“This stripped-back Cat catches fire. Mississippi magic. Colm Meaney is terrific” ★★★★ – Daily Telegraph

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is running at the Apollo Theatre until 7 October 2017. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.co.uk.
