ICYMI: David Tennant will return to the West End next year in Don Juan in Soho at Wyndham’s Theatre
Last seen in the West End alongside Catherine Tate in Josie Rourke’s triumphant version of Much Ado About Nothing in 2011, Tennant is one of Britain’s most celebrated actors.
His role as Doctor Who – which he played on BBC television from 2015-2010 – along with roles in films such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, St Trinians 2 and the Netflix and Marvel hit series Jessica Jones, have helped establish him as one of the UK’s most popular stars.
It is thought that he has spent much of the last few months filming what will be the third and final season of Broadchurch for ITV, reprising his role as DI Alec Hardy alongside Olivia Colman’s DS Ellie Miller.
He will now return to the stage in a new production of Patrick Marber’s iconic play, which kicks off at Wyndham’s theatre next spring. The new version will be directed by Marber himself, and is a contemporary take on the classic Moliere story; it originally premiered at the Donmar Warehouse in 2006, where it was directed by Michael Grandage and starred Rhys Ifans.
