Kinky Boots celebrates 1,000th performance in West End

The hit musical celebrate its 1,000th performance at the Adelphi Theatre in London.

Kinky Boots – the winner of every major Best Musical award – not only celebrates its 1,000th performance tonight but has also now received its 1,000,000th customer in the West End too. In celebration of the news, the hit show has also now confirmed a new extended booking period.

With a book by Broadway legend and Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles) and songs by Grammy and Tony-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots is a joyous musical celebration about the friendships we discover and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind.

Since opening in the West End in 2015, the show has become a favourite with UK theatregoers, winning three Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Actor in a Musical for Matt Henry who previously played Lola. In addition, Kinky Boots also won the London Evening Standard BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical as well as three WhatsOnStage Awards for Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical and Best Choreography.

Inspired by true events and based on the 2005 film of the same name, Kinky Boots takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price (David Hunter) is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola (Simon-Anthony Rhoden), a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.

With tickets now booking until Saturday 30 June 2018 there’s no better time to book and see Kinky Boots.
