Lulu set to join cast of 42nd Street

She'll star as Dorothy Brock from the 19 March 2018.

New cast have been announced for the West End production of 42nd Street. Lulu will take on the role of Dorothy Brock, having made her acting debut with Sidney Poitier in To Sir With Love. Her career has seen her succeed as an actress, singer, songwriter and businesswoman, having worked with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, The Beatles and David Bowie.

She made her West End debut in Guys & Dolls, having since starred in Peter Pan, Whatever Happened To Harold Smith, Song & Dance, and stepping into Julie Walters’ shoes in the Adrian Mole TV series.

Her hit single Shout remains a firm national favourite, having also collaborated with Bowie on The Man Who Sold the World, a Bond theme, and a No.1 duet with Take That.

She joins the new cast alongside Ashley Day as Billy Lawlor, who recently starred as Jerry Mulligan in the West End production of An American In Paris. His other credits include Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma!, The Book of Mormon, The Wizard Of Oz, High School Musical and many more.

Tom Lister will continue the role of Julian Marsh, as will Clare Halse as Peggy Sawyer.

42nd Street is running at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, directed by co-author Mark Bramble.

The show features hit tracks We’re In The Money, Lullaby on Broadway, Shuffle Off To Buffalo, Dames, I Only Have Eyes For You, and the show’s title track 42nd Street.

The cast also includes Jasna Ivir as Maggie Jones, Graeme Henderson as Andy Lee, Christopher Howell as Bert Barry, Bruce Montague as Abner Dillon, Mark McKerracher as Mac/Doc/Thug and Emma Caffrey as Anytime Annie. Matthew Goodgame joins as Pat Denning.
