Producers of MUSIK, a brand new one-woman show written by Jonathan Harvey and Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe from Pet Shop Boys, have confirmed that the production will transfer to London following its upcoming world premiere at Edinburgh Fringe.

MUSIK will take over the Leicester Square Theatre from Tuesday 3 – Saturday 7 September 2019.

The hour-long, one-woman show will star the multi award-winning actress Frances Barber, who reprises her role as Billie Trix from the 2001 hit musical Closer to Heaven, which was also written by Jonathan Harvey and Pet Shop Boys.

The production will include four brand new Pet Shop Boys songs.

“When we wrote Closer to Heaven almost 20 years ago, we loved the compelling outrageousness of the character Bille Trix as written by Jonathan and performed by Frances Barber.” Comments Pet Shop Boys, continuing “We have all discussed for many years the idea of creating her own one-woman show which would give us the chance to write more songs for her as she looks back on her incredible career. We’re thrilled that this show is finally happening.”

Star of the stage, screen and TV, Frances Barber’s credits include the films Prick Up Your Ears, We Think the World of You, Dead Fish and Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. Her TV credits include The Street and Doctor Who. Barber recently starred as Mrs Chevelet in the West End production of An Ideal Husband.

One of the most successful UK pop groups of all time, Pet Shop Boys have sold over 50 million records since their formation in 1981. Some of their most well-known hits include Go West, Always On My Mind, It’s A Sin and West End Girls.

Acclaimed playwright, novelist and TV writer Jonathan Harvey is predominately known for authoring the award-winning plays Beautiful Thing and Babies. His TV work includes writing the cult TV series Gimme Gimme Gimme, as well as being a regular scriptwriter on Coronation Street.

MUSIK will run from Tuesday 3 – Saturday 7 September 2019 at the Leicester Square Theatre, London
