Tickets are available now for the brand new West End production.
Having opened on Broadway last year, the musical adaptation of the iconic film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere is coming to London’s West End. Pretty Woman: The Musical will open at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on Valentine’s Day 2020 and is currently booking through until January 2021.
The musical features original music by renowned singer, songwriter and Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams, who became a household name in the mid-’80s with the release of Cuts Like a Knife and Reckless. Adams is joined by his creative partner Jim Vallance, who among his work co-penned hits Summer of ’69 and Heaven.
With direction and choreography by multiple Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, whose catalogue includes Kinky Boots, Hairspray and Legally Blonde, Pretty Woman: The Musical boasts a book by the film’s director and screenwriter Garry Marshall and J.F. Lawton.
Telling the now-legendary atypical love story, Pretty Woman: The Musical follows recently dumped Edward Lewis (portrayed on screen by Richard Gere) who meets Vivian Woods (Julia Roberts) in Hollywood’s red light district, inviting her to join him to a number of high-class functions and events as their vastly different pasts begin to merge into one.
Producers are yet to reveal the names for the West End production, however Broadway welcomed Samantha Barks in the role of Vivian, and Andy Karl as Edward Lewis.
Alongside the ever-iconic Roy Orbison song from which the film and stage adaptation take their name, the musical features a host of new material by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance – the duo responsible for some of the most iconic rock songs in history.
Honouring the source material, Pretty Woman: The Musical mirrors the action of the film right down to its legendary moments and sharp dialogue.
Pretty Woman: The Musical opens at London’s Piccadilly Theatre from 14 February 2020. Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
