Touching The Void transfers to the West End
Tickets are available now
The award-winning Touching The Void will transfer to London’s West End later this year.
The production will run at the Duke of York’s theatre for a strictly limited run from 9 November 2019 to 29 February 2020.
Based on the best selling memoir by Joe Simpson, Touching The Void is set in 1985 and tells the story of Simpson and climbing partner Simon Yates’ struggle to survive whilst scaling the Siula Grande mountain in the Peruvian Andes.
In 2003, the book was adapted into a docudrama of the same name, taking home a BAFTA Award for Best British Film.
The West End production will be directed by the award-winning Tom Morris (War Horse) and was written by David Grieg (Europe).
Touching The Void first premiered at Bristol’s Old Vic last year, before transferring to the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh and Royal and Derngate in Northampton.
Critically acclaimed, in a five-star review The Guardian described the play as a “thrilling, chilling drama,” and in another five-star review, The Independent claimed the show will make the audience “feel as if you’ve been to the ends of the earth without moving from your seat.”
After returning to the Old Vic, Bristol, Touching The Void transfers to the West End for the first time, taking over the Duke Of York’s theatre for a limited season from 9 November 2019.
