Wicked have announced two extra festive performances

Two extra matinee shows have been added to the musical's festive run.

Wicked has added two extra 14:30 shows this festive season. The additional performances will take place on the 26 December and 29 December at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Wicked is currently the 15th longest running show in London theatre history, and the 10th longest currently running musical. It has played close to 5000 performances to over 8.5 million audience members in London alone. In its time it has won over 100 major awards, including two coveted Olivier Audience Awards.

The musical tells the incredible story of the Witches of Oz, the future Wicked Witch of the West Elphaba, and Glinda the Good Witch.

The West End show currently stars Alice Fearn as Elphaba and Sophie Evans as Glinda. They are joined by Bradly Jaden (Fiyero) Bradley Jaden (Fiyero), Melanie La Barrie (Madame Morrible), Andy Hockley (The Wizard), Martin Ball (Doctor Dillamond), Sarah McNicholas (Nessarose), Jack Lansbury (Boq), Laura Pick (Standby for Elphaba), and Carina Gillespie and Maria Coyne (Standby for Glinda).

The story is based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that reimagines the stories and characters originally craeted by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

With music and lyrics by multi Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwatz, the musical features iconic tracks such as the soaring Defying Gravity.

Worldwide, Wicked has enjoyed audiences of over 53 million people, becoming one of the most celebrated musicals of all time across international theatres. The original production has been performed in 100 cities across 16 countries around the world.

In London, Wicked is now in its 12th year. It calls the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London’s West End home.

The new shows give audiences more chances to catch the magical tale of Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West in the spellbinding theatre setting.
